Flux Coated Shims

Flux coated shims are perfect for brazing difficult joint configurations. They can be used in saddle joints, shraeder valves and any butt joints. To eliminate the need for separate fluxing, these brazing materials are either cored or coated with a brazing flux.

A variety of different filler metals and fluxes are available depending upon your temperature requirements and materials to be joined. Using flux coated shims eliminates issues with pre-fluxing, pre-depositing of paste or difficult wire feeds. Full pressure can be applied to flux coated shims for centering.

CXZNAL 7822 - Aluminum Flux Coated Shim

A flux coated filler metal shim used for joining aluminum and aluminum alloys. Shims are coated with a non-corrosive flux. CXZNAL 7822 is a zinc/aluminum/silicon composition that melts over a temperature range of 426°C to 482°C (800°F to 900°F). Nominal composition: 78%Zn/22%Al


     
LTB718CSP - Aluminum Flux Coated Shim Preform

A flux coated filler metal shim used for joining aluminum and aluminum alloys. Shims are coated with a non-corrosive flux. LTB718CSP is an eutectic aluminum/silicon composition that melts over a narrow temperature range of 577°C to 582°C (1070°F to 1080°F). Nominal composition: 88%Al/12%Si
